Suicide in the medical profession

Throughout our entire schooling life in medicine, we are told about overall health and suicide in doctors and in particular medical interns. Yet from experience no one actually thinks that it is serious – not until it happens to us or someone we know, anyway.

Suicide is hardly talked about in the medical profession. Despite that, most interns will know of someone who has taken their life. Medicine is hard, and the question now is whether adding lectures about medical intern mentality and overall health will affect the future of suicide in medical interns. One intern in Sydney has spoken up and remember, doctors are human too.
