‘Psychs on Bikes’ wraps up

Today marks the final day of a 2500 km round-trip around Queensland made by a group of mental health workers.

On April 15th, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses and counsellors embarked on the sixth ‘Psychs on Bikes’ ride to raise mental health awareness in rural areas of the state. In addition to awareness seminars, they also dropped by pubs, men’s sheds and RSLs offering free health checks.

This approach has been welcomed by rural communities. Founder Joseph Dunn describes it as a way to “break down the barriers” in conversation with mental health professionals – “leather jackets, not leather couches”.
